Oromia Agricultural Research Institute (OARI) is a regional public research institution established to generate, adapt, and promote agricultural technologies that address the needs of farmers and pastoralists in Oromia Region, Ethiopia. The institute coordinates a network of agricultural research centers across the region, conducting studies on crops, livestock, natural resource management, and agricultural mechanization. Its primary goal is to improve agricultural productivity, food security, and rural livelihoods through demand-driven and problem-solving research. OARI works closely with universities, federal research institutes, extension services, and farming communities to ensure that research outputs are practical and widely adopted. It develops improved crop varieties, livestock technologies, soil and water conservation practices, and climate-resilient farming systems suited to diverse agro-ecologies within Oromia.
