Ambo Mineral Water Share Company produces Ambo Mineral Water, a naturally carbonated bottled mineral water sourced from mineral springs in Ambo Senkele, near the town of Ambo in central Ethiopia. Ambo Mineral Water is one of the most well-known beverages in Ethiopia and has often been described as the “oldest modern mineral water” and the oldest mineral water bottler in Ethiopia. Bottling of the water began in 1930, making it one of the country’s longest-standing beverage brands. Since 2017, Ambo Mineral Water Share Company has been owned by Coca-Cola Beverages Africa, one of the largest Coca-Cola bottlers on the continent. Under this ownership, the company has expanded its production and product portfolio. Currently, the company produces sparkling natural mineral water sourced directly from the Senkele springs. It also produces soft drinks and other beverages for both local Ethiopian markets and international distribution. Because of its natural carbonation, mineral composition, and long history, Ambo Mineral Water remains a symbolic and iconic beverage brand in Ethiopia, widely consumed in homes, restaurants, and social gatherings.
