Dangote Cement is Africa’s leading cement producer with operations in 10 African countries and revenues in excess of US$2.3 billion. Dangote Cement has operational facilities in Cameron, Ethiopia, Congo, Ghana, Senegal, Sera Leon, South Africa, Tanzania and Zambia. Embracing the challenge and opportunity to make a critical contribution to Ethiopia’s sustained growth and development, the company earmarked $650 million for the construction of a flagship cement manufacturing facility at a 135-hectare site in Mugher – a town situated 83 kilometres west of Addis Ababa, the capital city of Ethiopia. Inaugurated June 3, 2015, the facility is able to produce 2.5 million tonnes of cement every year and accounts for 30 percent of the entire local market. Dangote Cement Ethiopia PLC, based in the Muger Valley, produces high-quality Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) 42.5R and Portland Pozzolana Cement (PPC) 32.5R. Operating a massive 2.5 million ton-per-annum capacity plant (with plans to expand to 5 million tons), it serves the local market and exports to neighboring countries
