APARI is a regional government research institute based in Semera, Afar Region. It operates under the Afar Regional Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Development. Its mission is to improve pastoral and agro-pastoral livelihoods through applied research in: - Livestock production and health - Crop development suited to arid and semi-arid climates - Natural resource management (including combating invasive species like Prosopis juliflora) - Socio-economic studies to support pastoral communities It plays a key role in addressing challenges such as drought, invasive species, and limited grazing land, while promoting sustainable pastoral systems.
