Awash Arba Brake Production, operated by Hibret Manufacturing and Machine Building Industry (HMMBI), represents a significant advancement in the manufacturing sector of East Africa, particularly in Ethiopia's Afar Regional State. As the only facility of its kind in the region, it plays a crucial role in producing essential automotive components such as drum brakes, brake shoes, and disc brakes. With an impressive annual production capacity of 1.3 million drum brakes, 792,000 brake shoes, and 200,000 disc brakes, the factory is strategically positioned to meet the demands of both local and East African markets. This initiative aligns with broader economic goals aimed at import substitution, reducing reliance on foreign brake parts, and fostering self-sufficiency within the automotive industry.
