The DBE is a government-owned financial institution that primarily provides medium- and long-term loans to projects in agriculture, manufacturing, and other development-focused sectors. Its mission is to support Ethiopia’s socio-economic growth by financing viable projects that are underserved by commercial banks. While DBE’s main headquarters is in Addis Ababa, it operates branches across the country, including in Semera. The Semera branch serves as a regional hub for businesses, investors, and development projects in Afar, particularly in areas like commercial agriculture, livestock, and infrastructure development.
