Damot Multipurpose Farmers’ Cooperative Union, based in the West Gojjam Zone of Ethiopia's Amhara Region, is a robust secondary-level organization dedicated to empowering smallholder farmers through market integration and industrialization. By aggregating the resources of numerous primary cooperatives, the Union provides essential agricultural inputs like seeds and fertilizers while facilitating the large-scale marketing of crops such as maize, wheat, and oilseeds to ensure fair pricing for its members. Beyond simple trade, Damot has aggressively expanded into value addition, notably through its major investments in maize processing and animal feed production within the Bure Integrated Agro-Industrial Park. Ultimately, the Union serves as a vital economic engine that bridges the gap between traditional rural farming and modern industrial markets, significantly improving the livelihoods of thousands of farming households in the region.
