The historic Dire Dawa railway metal works, part of the 1902-established Ethio-Djibouti railway, features century-old, French-built workshops that remain operational. Skilled technicians repair and refurbish antique machinery and train parts on-site, serving as a critical, unique, and local repair hub for industries in the region, with plans to repurpose the site into a training center and museum.
